This is a simple and easy-to-follow moist chocolate cake with creamy chocolate icing.

This recipe is my grand Ma's. I still remember when I was small, we used to visit her during the holidays. This cake cake was one of her all time classic recipe. Now when I have started cooking I feel great to recreate her dish.

The cake is real moist and I love the idea of pouring the frosting in the baking dish itself.

Here we go! Happy Baking!

In a medium sauce pan, melt butter and cocoa powder. At low flame let the butter melt and mix well with cocoa powder.

Wet Ingredirnts

In another large bowl add in milk, eggs, vinegar, vanilla essence and whisk it for 1 minute. The whisking is very important as it makes your cake more airy.whisk always in one direction and this is a tip that I had got from my grandma. Now the mix will have bubbles.

Whisk 2

Add in sugar and whisk again (I used my hand blender). At this stage do not over whisk. Whisk on low speed.

Final Mix

Add in the melted butter-cocoa mix. Add in the flour, baking soda. Mix on low speed (careful that you do not over mix).

You can use the cut and fold method here to mix in the dry ingredients with the wet ingredients.

Cut and fold method:

Make a cut with your spatula in the middle and then fold the batter with your spatula always in the same direction.

Bake

Preheat oven to 180 degree C . Grease and dust a baking pan.

You can use even a baking sheet or a cup cake mold.

Pour into a greased baking tray and bake for 20-25 minutes or until a tooth pick inserted in the center comes out clean.
I have used a square pan so that I can cut squares from the cake.

This is a simple frosting recipe.

Melt butter, cocoa, and milk; bring it to a boil. Remove from heat and add in powdered sugar whisk well. Take care there are no lumps here. Pour over the hot cake and allow it to cool. When cool cut it into square and serve it.
