Mosaic Tea Light
Hi All,
This is a recycle glass bottle project where you can create beautiful mosaic tea lights for your home
I am using Olives glass jar, which I cut using a bottle cutter which I made few months back, link
What Do We Need ?
Material
- Multi colored glass beads ( flat )
- Glass jar
- PVA glue or fevicol
- Tooth pick
- White cement
- Tea Light candle
Glass Beads
- Clean the glass surface with soap and water, wipe it with a soft cloth and let it dry
- I am using pva glue to stick the glass beads in place, I do not like hot glue
- The pva glue can be removed and we can adjust beads we we want
- I started with one line of blue beads at the bottom and one at the top
- With green and red beads make design
- Keep a watch on the position of beads, they tend to slip away, adjust them using the tooth picks
- Use a fan to speed up drying process
- Best results if we let it dry for 24 hours
Cement
- Once the pva glue has dried, it will become transparent, only then start with this step
- Add 2 spoons of white cement to 1/2 spoon of water, mix well to form a paste
- Apply cement paste to fill the gaps and make a even layer
- Leave it for 15 minutes, then with moist cloth, wipe the glass beds clean
- Apply more cement paste where needed and clean the glass beads
- Let it dry for 24 hrs
Finishing
- Let the thing dry for 24 hrs
- All the glass beads are clearing visible from inside
- Since the glass beads are flat and glass jar is not, you may see some cement, do not worry about it
- Apply a layer of clear coat or pva glue on cement to give a glossy look
- Light a candle and place in the this and enjoy the it's beauty
Let me know your comments and suggestion, Since this was my first attempt, I kept the design simple
