Motor and Generator Fan Sponsored by JLCPCB
Thanks JLCPCB for sponsoring this project. Please get your 3D prints at https://jlcpcb.com/3d-printing/CSS
You are going to learn how to make compound gear train using Fusion 360 3D modelling software and learn the principle of motor and generator. We are making a fan using the power of motor. Lets get started!
JLC3D Capabilities
JLCPCB offers all the above materials at the starting prices per piece in USD. The materials are accurate as of 11 July 2022.
There is 54 USD new user coupon for purchase of 3D prints.

Fusion 360 GF Gear Generator
Download the Fusion 360 GF Gear Generator extension for Fusion 360 application from the browser.
Fusion 360 Gear Generator in Fusion 360
Open Fusion 360 application. Click on Utilities on the top of the Fusion 360 application. Select Spur Gear to make spur gears.
Spur Gear Building
Select module = 1mm, Number of teeth = 29, Gear height = 3mm, Pressure angle = 20mm.
Pitch diameter (d) = Module (m) x Number of teeth (z)
29mm = 1mm x 29
Putting All Parts Together
We will need the following 3D prints:
4 x Compound gear
1 x Compound gear base
1 x Compound gear top
1 x Propeller motor
We specifically need two 12 Volts JGA25-370 motors at 1200 rpm which means 20 rotations per minute.
We need 50mm long M3 screws and nuts. We can cut and file the screws to their required lengths.
The compound gears have 29 teeth for small gear and 61 teeth for big gear. The overall gear ratio is (61/29)^3 = 9.31.
This means that if we spin 1 rotation per second, the motor shaft will spin 9 rotations per second.
To ensure that we do not burn the motors, we should not spin more than two rotations per second.
The motors are electrically connected positive wire to positive wire, negative wire to negative wire. This gives the motor and generator effect.
There is no preference for propeller.
This project requires two motor shaft adaptors, please get them at
