Motorized String Toy for Cats
Does your cat love to play with strings ? but are you too lazy to play with him/her ? , here comes the solution -
DIY motorized cat string toy . To make this toy, you need not have any experience with electronics . It is also beginner friendly.
Tools and Materials
MATERIALS
- Hobby motor
- 9V battery
- 9V battery clip
- Switch
- A plastic wheel that connects to the motor
- Cylindrical container (In my case , a watch box)
TOOLS
- Soldering iron
- Hot glue gun
The Wiring
Use the provided schematics to wire the motor ,switch and battery together.
You can also use shrink tube to secure the terminals after soldering .
Hot Glue Gun Time!
Now let’s glue in the components!
First, plug in your hot glue gun and wait for it to heat up.
Then hot glue the motor first and then the switch.
I recommend not to glue the battery instead use a rubber band or velcro to mount the battery.
Preparing the Arm
For the arm , I couldn't find a large and straight stick , So I decided to use 2 pencils. I joined the two pencils using duct tape.
Mounting the Arm and the Strings
Hot glue one end of the pencil to the wheel and the other end of the pencil to a string
You can leave it here and let your cat play with a string but I decided to glue a table tennis (ping pong) ball to the other end of the string .
Conclusion
Congratulations, You’ve made it to the end! Awesome job building this project!
Thank you for reading my Instructable, I hope you enjoyed watching the video and I hope you found it very entertaining.
Also make sure that your cat is not scared of the sound of the motor.
