Mount for Plastic Liquid Container

as5-render2.jpg

This mount serves as a holder for a scent delivery system that will be used in an installation. The mounts clips underneath the plastic liquid container. The system doesn't have a stand and currently sits on top of tripods. The objective is to hang the pods from the ceiling. These stands will be supporting the pods.

If you don't own a scent delivery system yet, it can also be used as a cupholder!

Supplies

PLA. 3D printer. A Creality Ender Pro 3 has been used to print this design.

Parametric Design Process

The plastic container of the device has been measured and recreated in Rhino. The grasshopper design is a parametric system that can adapt to several scenarios, with different dimensions. The base of the pod however has to be rectangular or circular to fit the design.

Boolean Operation

A boolean operation inside Grasshopper helped to make the print more efficient by using less material and reducing printing times by 70%. The print took approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes in Standard Quality. Furthermore, by performing a Boolean operation between the base and a circle, the design can also be used as a cupholder!

Test Different Operations

Voronoi operations have been tested in Grasshopper, but the output failed to achieve the desired result. Voronoi seems to be addressing larger objects that justify the aesthetic for such an approach.
