NYCFC Pigeon Painting

NYCFC is a MLS soccer club I thought to draw the team logo which is a flying pigeon. For this painting you will not require a lot of skill, all you need it to be able to paint and draw. I know you are not supposed to use pencil on canvases but I do it anyway. And now lets get started.

Supplies

Black acrylic paint

Blue and dark blue acrylic paint

white acrylic paint

Small medium and large brushes

Extra large canvas

Pencil

white pencil

Making the Wings

For this step you will be making the wings. To be honest this is the hardest step of them all. You will make a long line going to almost the top of the canvas, and you will bring it back down to make the first wing. When almost at the bottom of the fist wing make a curved line going up to the top. When you are at the top, make a curved line to make the feathers. Then go all the way down, you have completed the first step.

The Face

For the second step you will be making the face. At the base of the first wing, you will continue that line, make it go a reasonable length. and make a curve go down, and make a point for the beak and go back up for it to make a bird face shape.

The Chest

Continuing on the bottom line from the face, go down until it looks like the top of a chest. Then you cut back in so it looks like a chest. It’s a lot easier when you look at the picture not the words. When you are done move on to the next step.

The Tail

For the tail of the pigeon you will make 3/4 of a circle. The outer edge of the circle needs to be a little bit squiggly to make it look like feathers. There will be an outer edge and an inner edge, the inner will be a half circle and it will not be squiggly then you will connect the bottom to the wing (see picture).

The Squares and Shapes

For this step you will just have to make a bunch of lines shapes and squares to make it pop (see pictures).

For the painting part of the painting you will need dark blue, white, light blue, and black paint. I recommend acrylic paint. The first step is to paint the head in all black. Then the line the for the outer edge of the wing you will paint dark blue. The whole entire outer edge of the tail and the part that connects the outer edge to the base wing, and the outer edge of the second wing should be painted dark blue as well.

The Rest

Then you will take the light blue paint and paint the whole entire rest of the canvas but not the pigeon. Then take a white pencil and mark NYC on half of the canvas. Then randomly splatter white paint on the blue where the NYC is not, and you are done. Enjoy!
