Nail Polish Organizer

I have started a new hobby of doing my own nails. It was getting too expensive to go to the salon and I saw a few videos online of other people doing their nails and thought that I could do it too. I've spent a lot of money on supplies and many different colors of nail polish. The supplies are very unorganized as shown in the image.

Measure Nail Polish Bottles

Measure the dimensions of your nail polish bottles in order to create a compartment that will be the correct fit

Calculate Size of Trays and Determine Spacing

I wanted each tray to fit 24 nail polish bottles, and the spacing to be a little less that 1/16 of an inch, I rounded down to 0.06in.

Using the dimensions found in previous step and determined spacing, I calculated the size of each tray based off the tray with square compartments (I found that this was easier than basing it off of the ellipse tray).

I needed to use trig to find the angle of slant for the ellipse compartments.

I made the holes for the supporting legs to be right triangles with dimensions 0.3in x 0.3in and a depth of 0.3in

For the legs I decreased the dimensions to 0.275in x 0.275in in order to have a snug fit. I made the height of the legs 3.6in, found from measuring the height of the tallest nail polish bottle (3in) and adding the depth of the two holes they will be sitting in (0.3in x 2 = 0.6).

I first extruded the rectangle with the dimensions found in previous step and to a thickness of 0.625in (0.5in depth of wholes and 0.125in thickness of bottom).

I used construction lines to map out my design on the top face of the rectangle and make sure that the spacing was correct.

I then started adding the compartment holes and extruded them into the block 0.5in.

Export Files, Print, and Assemble

I exported the CAD files to .stl and opened them in Cura.

I kept the standard settings for trays and changed infill to 50% for the legs to strengthen them

I had to push the legs in to the hole and the fit was strong enough with no need for glue, but glue can be added for permeance
