Farm Fresh Homemade Electrolyte Hydration Drink

IMG_0267.JPG

Make yourself a refreshing and hydrating electrolyte drink at home, with no artificial flavours or colours. Works amazingly as a pre / post fasting drink and can be used before or after a good workout!! Made with natural honey from a local farm, and in season oranges and lemons from a farmers market for the best flavour and nutritional content!

Supplies

A large pitcher

A sharp knife and plate

A manual juicer with strainer

2 organic large oranges

1 organic large lemon

1 cup organic coconut water (optional)

2 cups or 500ml filtered water

1 tbsp raw and organic locally sourced honey

a dash of pink Himalayan salt

Prepare the Orange and Lemon Juice

Wash your oranges and lemon, cut in half using the sharp knife and plate and squeeze each half using the manual juicer. Strain out the pips. Add the juice to the pitcher.

Add the Coconut Water and Water

Add the coconut water to the juice in the pitcher and stir. The coconut water is optional. If you do not have filtered water bottled spring water is fine.

Stir in the Honey and Himalayan Salt

Mix in salt and honey very well using a spoon until fully disolved. Make sure honey is raw, unheated natural honey. Do not replace with other sweeteners. The honey is added for its nutrients, not for flavor. Sea salt can also be used instead.

Chill in the Fridge and Enjoy!

Best served cold! Can be made 2-3 days in advance. If drinking to hydrate before a fast, double the recipe and drink for a few days before. Drink a batch after to rehydrate after an intense workout or after a fast.
