Oil Pastel Drawing of Ireland's Cliffs of Moher

Learn some basic oil pastel drawing techniques as you draw the beautiful Ireland Cliffs of Moher.

Get Your Materials.

1) Drawing Paper

2) Oil Pastels (I used Crayola)

Sky

Start by drawing several small blue lines in the region that will become the sky

Blend, Add White

Blend the lines together using your thumb.

Then, use the white pastel to create a misty, cloud-like texture, by just firmly pressing across the blue area.

Layout Cliff Outline

Outline the 5 jutting cliff formations.

Use various greens to draw several dots where the cliff top is.

Filling in the Cliffs

Fill in the cliffs with various strokes of brown and black.

Use greens occasionally as well to bring out the mosses and such.

Blend

Blend together with your thumb.

Use white to create a sleek covering.

Repeat

Repeat the same steps for each of the jutting cliff formations.

Water

Fill the water area in with an aqua blue.

Follow previous techniques by starting with several lines, then blend, add white for better texture.

Blend the rest of the drawing out for a finished look.
