This is a quite easy in the sense of ingredients. This recipe is for a very large serving. If you want a smaller serving we suggest you don't use all the pumpkin. This recipe can be changed any way to cater to your own personal taste.

  • 1 small pumpkin
  • All of the pumpkin seeds from the pumpkin
  • 1 large apple
  • 1/2 cup of sunflower seeds
  • 2 tbs honey

You will also need a blender, a stove, pans, olive oil, a bowl, a knife, and a timer of some sorts. These things will be used to cook and prepare the spread. I bet that seems like a lot of things, that could be hard to find but in reality these are all things you ca find in your home. The hardest thing you might think is the timer but if you look in your phone you will find it pleasantly placed in the clock app.

Process

The first step is to preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Then take a knife and cut the pumpkin in half. scoop all of the seeds out. Save those seeds, they will come in handy later. The take one of your pans and put the pumpkin halves in, facing down. Then put 1 cup of water in the pan. Put your pan in the oven for 1 hour.

The second step is to dry those pumpkin seeds. Then put them in the second pan with a little bit of oil in the bottom. Put those in the oven with the pumpkin. Leave them in there for 15 minutes. If you want them more crunchy leave them longer. But DO NOT BURN THEM! It taste horrible after (trust me).

The third step is to take care of your apple and sunflower seeds. Cut your apple however you want, it does not really matter. Then put all the sunflower seeds in your blender. If it has a coffee setting, use that. Blend it till it looks finely crushed and coffee like. By this time the pumpkin seeds are down. Take them out and dry them. Then put them in with the sunflower seeds and blend some more. Till all of the seeds are coffee like.

The Fourth step is to add the rest of the ingredients except for the honey. Put the blender on smoothie. Blend till all of the ingredients are mixed together and smooth and paste like. The add the honey and blend some more, till it is all mixed together.

The fifth step is to put it in a container. Put it in a fridge for a few minutes. Then serve and enjoy!

Conclusion

In all honesty this was at first just a school project but then it turned into something much bigger. My partner and I were at first just trying to get a good grade but then we started talking to companies and farmers and consumers. We soon found that food was so much more to these people. So we then set out to show people what we had found. So we made this spread with things grown from local farms and asked for advice from our parents and local chefs. This food is made to bring people together and help them live healthy, tasty lives. We hope you enjoy our food!
