Onion Chutney

-Onion chutney is spicy tangy and flavorful and goes well with idli,dosa,chapathi and even rice.

-onions blended with chillies and tamarind gives tangy taste to it. Adding sesame seeds give nice flavour

Ingredients

-4 diced onions

-8 dry red chillies

-One and half tbsp tamarind

-Tsp sesame seeds

-salt as per taste

FOR TEMPERING

-Half tsp cumin,mustard seeds

-Half tsp split black gram

-Few curry leaves

-pinch of turmeric

-cooking oil

DRY ROAST RED CHILLIES

-Take a vessel and add 8 dry red chillies with stems to it and dry roast until they change little color

SAUTE ONIONS

-Transfer dry red chillies on to plate and add little oil in same vessel.When oil is heated add diced onions and saute for some time

ADD TAMARIND

-Next add one and half tbsp tamarind to it and saute until onions are cooked

ADD SESAME SEEDS

-Add a tsp sesame seeds and saute for few more minutes until onions change light brown color.Sesame seeds give nice flavour to chutney

BLEND

--Cool all sauted ingredients and transfer to blender. Add salt to it and blend to paste without adding any water

TEMPERING

-Take oil in same vessel and add half tsp cumin and mustard seeds. when they crackle add split black gram , few cuury leaves and pinch of turmeric

TRANSFER BLENDED PASTE TO TEMPERING

-Finally transfer blended paste to tempering and mix everything for few minutes.

-You can store in air tight container in refrigerator for few days and can be eaten with rice or even dosas,chapathi
