Orange Chocolate Fudge Cake
This is a delicious fudge cake that is sure to impress, and a great project for young girls with a little help from an adult.
Lets get making!
Ingredients
You will need:
- 100 grams cookies
- 2 teaspoons cocoa powder
- 25 mls milk
- 25 grams butter
- 25 grams sugar
- 1/8 teaspoon vanilla essence
- 1/8 teaspoon orange zest
- 3 marshmallows
Also line a little tin with baking paper, the size of the tin that I used was 13 1/2 cm (135 mm) long, 6 cm (60 mm) wide and 4 1/2 cm (45 mm) high.
Mixing and Blending
Mix up your cocoa, orange zest, milk and vanilla together in a bowl and set aside.
In a food processor blend up the cookies until coarse crumbs, if you wish you can leave the crumbs large. If you don't have a food processor you could put the cookies into a zip lock bag and bash them with a rolling pin until the desired size.
Melting
In a saucepan melt the butter and sugar together, then add the cocoa mix and give it a stir. Put the cookie crumbs into a bowl and add the chocolate mix and give it a good stir. Using scissors cut the marshmallows up into little bits then add to the chocolate crumb mixture and give it a stir. Pour the mixture into the prepared tin and put in the fridge for an hour or two.
Icing
To make the icing you will need:
- 1/4 cup icing sugar
- 1 teaspoon grated orange rind
- Enough orange juice to make it the right consistency, I used the juice of half an orange
Mixing It Up
Add all of the ingredients to a bowl and mix it all together.
Almost Done
Once the fudge cake have firmed up take it out of the fridge and leaving it in the tin pour on the icing to cover the top. Using a spoon spread it out evenly.
Cutting and Enjoying
When the icing has set you can remove the fudge cake from the tin and cut it up. Let me know what you think in the comments below, until next time, bye
