Orange Marmalade Butter Scones

I present to you soft, fluffy, yummy scones prepared using homemade Orange Marmalade Butter and the by-product of making butter at home, buttermilk. Hope you like it :)

Ingredients and Steps Required to Prepare Orange Marmalade Butter

Ingredients Required:

  • Softened Butter - 4 tbsp
  • Orange Marmalade - 2 to 3 tbsp

Steps Required:

  • Mix together all the above ingredients well
  • Place the butter on a plastic wrap and roll to get a tight tube
  • Place in fridge till required

Ingredients for Scones:

  • Unbleached All purpose flour - 2 cups
  • Baking Powder - 1 tbsp
  • Salt - 1/2 tsp
  • Granulated Sugar - 5 tbsp
  • Orange Marmalade Butter - 5 tbsp
  • Heavy Cream - 1/4 cup
  • Buttermilk - 1/2 cup

Ingredients for Glaze:

  • Heavy Cream - 1 tbsp
  • Orange/Hazelnut Liqueur(Optional) - 1 tsp
  • Sugar - 1 tbsp

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 425F
  • Place the flour,baking powder,salt and sugar in a bowl. Mix using fork
  • Scatter the butter over the flour mixture and mix using a fork till crumbled flour is achieved
  • Add the cream and buttermilk and stir with fork to form a shaggy dough
  • Kneed just until the dough comes together. Do not over kneed or the scones will be tough
  • Pat the dough into 8 inch circle and cut into 8 wedges
  • Place the wedges on a floured baking sheet, spacing them slightly apart
  • Whisk together remaining cream, sugar and liqueur, brush on the tops of the scones
  • Bake until the tops are golden brown and firm, about 12-15 minutes
  • Cool on a wire rack for 10 minutes before serving
  • Serve warm :)
