Orange Peel Candle Holders

It's time to celebrate the colors of rainbow . The color that mainly attracts me the most is orange. So,I planned to make a orange fruit peel candle holder. It works as both candle holder as well as room freshener. It spreads a fresh pleasant smell around and creates more relaxing vibe and good ambience . It's eco-friendly, cost effective, influences you with pleasant mood . What are we waiting for let's get started.

Materials required :

Orange fruit , Knife ,Bottle cap ,Thread, Needle, Steel string, Tea light candles, Pen.

Gather all the necessary things that is mentioned above. Take a fresh orange and mark a circle on top of the orange with the help of available things even a bottle cap is fine. Mark a perfect circle with a pen.

Take a knife, and slice just through the skin all the way around the top portion as marked safely. Next, we need to gently insert the finger or you can even use spoon, carefully push it in just underneath the skin and slowly work your way around, to remove the fruit out of skin. Keep pushing the finger in a little bit deeper as you work your way around, when you've finished the fruit,it should be completely free from the skin and you should be able to lift the peel clean off. You can remove the piff , if you want to, and eat the orange and have fun.

Scoop out the fruit completely and take a pen and design your candle holder as you wish . I preferred floral design as it gives a natural and pleasant look . Take a gel pen as it gives a good flow on top of the skin. The outline should be perfect and accurate as it gives a clear picture of how the shape and design of the candle holder is going to be.

First, take your orange peel , securely holding the orange skin, begin carving out the shapes. This is easily done using a rocking motion where possible whilst keeping your fingers safe . Wipe off any pen marks that remain on.

Take a needle and thread to fix the carved orange peel hanging attachment's. Gently insert the needle inside orange skin and pierce a hole in the opposite side near it and tie a knot and secure your thread.Repeat the same twice with equal distance for front facing of the orange peel hangings .Now, take a steel string and fold it as shown in the image. Insert the string in both sides of the skin equally and let it hang, check whether it looks straight.

Light the tea light candle and place it inside the candle holder.Put the lid on the top. As the lid is heated it gives a fresh smell all around and its also safe to hang it any where you wish. That's how easy it is to carve your candle holder. There is no danger as all the sides are closed except carved portion and this candle holder is completely safe.
