This is a origami dragon leaning on a stone with his fore legs. It’s made from a frog base which needs a bit of experience to make. And it’s designed by myself :-)

Paper

image.jpg
Take a square paper with one side another color than the other side. (best one side grey) Length is at least 15cm. Begin with colored side up.

Diagonal Folds

image.jpg
Bring the corners to corners to create two diagonal lines. Unfold after and turn the paper over.

Cross in the Middle

image.jpg
Fold side to side to create a cross in the middle. Unfold after.

Difficult Step

image.jpg
Fold every corner onto each other so a smaller square is created.

Squash Folds

image.jpg
Fold one of the upper sides down to the middle line. Then unfold and squash the flap by using the precreases made before. Continue doing this with every flap.

Creating Middle Flaps

image.jpg
image.jpg
image.jpg
Now with a the flaps squashed we can begin creating the middle flaps which will be the legs. In order to do this you must fold the lowest sides up to the middle, then unfold and fold them at the same time while pulling the middle flap. Again do this with every corner.

Changing Middle Flap to Stone

image.jpg
The frog base is finished. Now we can start giving shape to the model. We will begin making stone from the middle flap. For this you must open up the model and turn the model inside out, the flap which is now another color must be placed inside one of the long flaps.

Separating the Stone Flap and the Neck Flap

image.jpg
Now the general structure of the dragon is made we can start making the neck and let the stone stand out more. To do this you must pull up the flap in which the middle flap is located until you can’t pull it any further. Then the stone is going to be outside reversed downwards.

Making the Fore Legs and Making the Model Lie Flat

image.jpg
Now as you might have noticed the model does not lie flat. To make it lie flat you have to pull the crease at the 90 degree corner until the neck flap isn’t curved anymore, then you must make a valley fold to make the model lie flat.

Making the Wings

image.jpg
Let’s start making the wings now. This is easier comparing to the last steps. You just have to squash fold the flaps upwards.

Making the Hind Legs and Face

image.jpg
image.jpg
For the hind legs you must fold along the valley line which is already created earlier. For the head you must outside reverse fold the flap how you like it.

Adding Details

image.jpg
Now the height of the stone must be adjusted so the model will be able to stand up. Furthermore small details can be added.

Finished!

Thank you for folding my model!
