PREDATOR MOTORCYCLE HELMET COVER
I STARTED WITH A SPARE HELMET THAT I HAD WHICH HAD A BROKEN FACE SHEILD THAT I COULD NOT FIND A REPLACEMENT FOR
I DID NOT WANT TO ALTER THE HELMET AT ALL SO THAT IT WOULD STILL TECHNICALLY BE DOT APROVED
SO IT BOLTS ON TO THE OLD FACE SHIELD HOLES
THIS ALSO SERVES AS A MASK FOR A HAUNTED FOREST I WORK WHERE IF YOU GET TO CLOSE TO CUSTOMERS THEY HAVE A TENDENCY TO PUNCH SO I MADE IT OUT OF FIBERGLASS AND NOW I CAN GET CLOSE AND IF THEY PUNCH I DONT CARE
STEP1 GATHER SUPPLIES
HELMET---HAD LAYING AROUND
RANDOM HELMET FACE SHIELD-- HAD LAYING AROUND
ROLL OF FIBERGLASS MATT---- HAD LAYING AROUND
5 POUNDS MODELLING CLAY
GALLON FIBERGLASS RESIN
QUART BONDO
2 INCH WIDE NYLON WEBBING--5FT
5/8 BLACK NYLON ROPE--35FT
BLACK THREAD
RUSTOLEUM SPRAY PAINT--- HAMMERED SILVER
SPRAY PAINT---- FLAT BLACK
TOOLS
DREMMEL WITH CUT OFF WHEEL, DRILL BIT, SANDING AND GRINDING BITS
SAND PAPER
SEWING NEEDLE--- I PREFFER A CURVED ONE
KNIFE
TORCH
DISPOSABLE RUBBER GLOVES
STEP 2 CREATE SHAPE
THEN I SCULPTED THE SHAPE OF THE MASK WITH CRAYOLA MODELLING CLAY ON TOP OF THE HELMET
YOU HAVE TO PUT CLAY OVER EVERY SURFACE YOU ARE GONNA FIBERGLASS SO IT DOESNT STICK TO HELMET THE RESIN WILL NOT STICK TO THE CLAY AND IF YOU SHAPE IT RIGHT IT WILL PULL OFF WITH LITTLE EFFORT
STEP 3 FIBERGLASS
MAKE SURE YOU WEAR GLOVES AND A RESPERATOR WHEN WORKING FITH FIBERGLASS
THE CAN OF RESIN HAS INSTRUCTIONS ON IT FOR MIXING AND APLICATION
I PREFER TO USE SMALL STRIPS OF FIBERSHEET ABOUT 1 INCH WIDE AND 6 INCHES LONG THEN I DIP THEM IN THE RESIN AND PUT THEM ON TOP OF THE CLAY I COVERED THE ENTIRE THING WITH AT MINIMUM THREE LAYERS
STEP 4 PREP FOR PAINT
I USED THE CUT OFF TOOL ON MY DREMEL TO TRIM THE EDGES OF THE FIBERGLASS
THEN I SANDED THE MASK AND PUT A SKIM COAT OF BONDO TO SMOOTH IT OUT THEN LET IT HARDEN AND SANDED IT AGAIN
I ALSO SANDED THE HELMET BECAUSE THE HIGH GLOSS SURFACE HAS TO BE SANDED ROUGH SO IT WILL TAKE PAINT
I PAINTED THE HELMET WITH FLAT BLACK PAINT
I PAINTED THE MASK WITH RUSTOLEUM HAMMERED METALLIC SILVER WHICH CAME OUT SHINY SO I THEN DUSTED IT LIGHTLY WITH THE FLAT BLACK TO MAKE IT LOOK OLD AND BATTERED
STEP 5 FACE SHIELD AND MOUNTING
THE NEXT STEP IS TO MAKE THE FACE SHIELD
USE THE DREMEL CUT OFF TOOL TO CUT A SPARE FACE SHEILD TO THE SHAPE OF THE OPENING
THEN USE THE DRILL BIT IN THE DREMEL TO DRILL HOLES IN THE MASK AND THE SHEILD
THEN DRILL HOLES THAT LINE UP WITH THE HOLES IN THE HELMET
THEN BOLT IT ALL TOGETHER
STEP 6 MAKE THE DREADLOCKS
HE DREADLOCKS ARE MADE OUT OF 5/8 NYLON ROPE SEWED TOGETHER WITH NYLON WEBBING FOLDED OVER THE TOP
THERE ARE 2 ROWS OF DREADS
THE FIRST IS MADE OF 21 28INCH LONG PEICES OF ROPE
THE SECOND ROW IS MADE OF 9 15INCH LONG PEICES OF ROPE
WHEN CUTTING TH ROPE TO LENGTH I HEATED THE KNIFE UP WITH A TORCH SO THAT THE ROPE WOULD NOT FRAY
STEP 7 MOUNTING THE DREADLOCKS
THEN I SEWED THE NYLON WEBBING TO THE HOLES
THIS HAS TO BE DONE OFF OF THE HELMET
FINAL PRODUCT
NOW I PUT IT ALL BACK ON THE HELMET
