PVC - Kitchen Helper - Learning Tower - Hack

Loved the idea of the kitchen helpers but did not appreciate their price tags. Looked for a lot of hacks and most of them involved woodworking that needed additional tools; not exactly our cup of tea. Then came the aha! moment ; PVC - so easy to work with and no expensive tools needed!

I have attached details regarding the design, you can adapt it to fit your requirement with endless possibilities...

The design can be adapted to any '2 step stool' .

Diagrams are self explanatory. The allowance is measure of the distance between the edge of the PVC fitting to its internal marker line. [ We used 1" fittings and allowance for each fitting was 0.75" ]

Tip : Please measure twice and cut once!

2 step stool ( I found mine at GoodWill for $5)

1" 10ft PVC pipe - 2 Pcs

1" 90-degree elbow - 4 Pcs

1" x 3/4 " 90-degree reducer elbow - 8 Pcs

1" Tee - 8 Pcs

Miter Box with saw

Measuring Tape

Insulation Tape

Hammer

Tip : Using insulation tape makes it really easy to make even cuts in the miter box. Also rotate the pipe once the cut is halfway through to get an all round even cut on the pipe.

Notes :

~ Make sure to hammer the pipe tightly into the fittings. You will have to remeasure during assembly to make sure your pipes are fit snugly.

~ When assembly is finished, lift the entire thing off the floor. If it stays put, congratulate yourself, you have done a great job!
