Pacman Pie

Sweet pie's are my favourites.I am ready to eat these delicious pie's at any time.I made this Pacman pie for my friend's little  boy who loves playing pacman games.He loved it ,and I ate the most of it.  :)

Ingredients

2 1/2 Cup plain ( all purpose) flour
1/4 cup Sugar
185 gr cold butter
1 egg
1 egg yolk
1-2 tble spoon iced water

You need half a sheet of paper  - it can be any paper as long as it is slightly bigger than the baking tray.
Pencil and and a scissor.
I have not taken extra picture of this ; )

Out line  the inner circle of the pastry tray.
Cut the paper circle along the marked line.
Fold into four and mark the middle.The diameter of the circle is 9 inches.
From the middle mark the Pacman mouth and cut the piece away.

Make the Crust

Place flour,butter,sugar in food processor,using pulse action process for 30 seconds or until mixture is fine and crumbly.Add egg ,egg yolk and iced water and process for 20 seconds or until mixture just comes together when squeezed.If necessary use another little bit water. Turn on to a lightly floured board and knead  gently to form a smooth dough.Refrigerate covered with plastic wrap for about 20 -30 minutes.

Roll & Cut

Preheat oven to moderately hot 210° C (415° F / Gas 6-7)

On floured board roll out pastry to line base and sides of prepared tin,and trim the edges.
Place the paper template on the pastry and cut out the pacman mouth.
Roll out a strip of pastry and complete the mouth edges -Please refer image 7

Baking Time

Bake for about 20 minutes or until it is golden in color.

Ingredients for the Custard

3 Tea spoon full Custard powder
100 gr Icing sugar
1/2 Cup Milk
1/2 cup waterWater
Orange essence
1 Table spoon butter

Custard Topping

Heat  the milk and icing sugar together..Add butter and stir until it disolves.Mix custard powder and water together, dissolve and add to the mixture. Keep  stiring until it becomes slightly thick.Take off the fire and add orange essece when it is slightly cool.

Custard Filling & Apricot Decoration

Pour the Custard mixture over the crust and bake in the hot oven for 10 minutes.
Drain the apricot completely ,(reserve the juice for glazing) slice the Apricot the way you want and decorate the Pie.

Ingredients for Glazing & Decoration

Few Cranberries
1 Kiwi
1 Packet Ready made glaze powder
2 tble spoon sugar -not in pic

Glaze & Decorate

Blend  store bought glaze powder and a little bit apricot  juice ,stir into the rest of the Juice.Add sugar and bring to boil ,simmer for a minute until it is clear and slightly thicker. If you want to use home made glazing here is a nice recipe.....

2 tea spoon arrowroot
4 teaspoon sugar
250 ml apricot juice

Blend arrowroot with a little bit of juice ,stir into the rest of the juice.Add sugar bring  to the boil and simmer for a minute until it is clear and slightly thick.

Pour the glaze over the pie.If you want to give an eye to the pacman ,cut the middle in a kiwi fruit and place it on the pacman.Three cranberries in front of him will be ideal for him to start chasing.Leave the glaz to set before serving.
