Palm Cart Using Palm Fruit

Hey There,

Today in this instructable i will show you an awesome toy that my grandpa made while i was a kid. We call it as palm cart as its wheel is made of fruits from palm tree. I have just recreated the same cart with the same way my grandpa did, hope you all enjoy this tutorial.

• Palm Fruit (2)
• a Sturdy Stick
• a branch from Coconut Tree
• Some tools to cut and drill

For making the wheels on palm cart, the palm fruits must be big and round in size. Thus, Select two palm fruits which is big, round and same in size. Then Slice of the White part of the fruit as in figure and scope out the flesh, so we can eat it before preparing the wheel.

As the Wheels are already ready, Now we need a shaft to connect both the wheels. To make a wheel, cut tree bark of 30 cm in length and thickness of 1 inch. Then sharpen both the ends with knife, so that it can be pierced through the fruits.

Prefer Using

• Bamboo Stick
• Oak Stick
• Pine Stick

Those are a bit hard to break.

Now Pierce the Shaft carefully through the center of the fruit. Don't pierce it all the way through the fruit, Just few inches will be enough. After that, just roll it on the ground so that you can understand if there is any mistake.

To prepare the handle for the cart, i'm using a freshly chopped coconut branch. Just trim off all the leaves and shave the corners so that the handle will be soft for the hands. After that you have to trim off both the sides if needed. Don't trim off much, just trimming about a half would be fine. After that, drill a hole on the bigger side of the trunk (Don't hammer it, Hammering will split the trunk in to two). Just Dug a hole or drill one. How to Make Palm Cart

As everything is ready now, All we have to do is to finalize it. Now arrange the shaft through the hole we drilled on the handle then tightly bound the Palm fruit on the shaft. you must need to trim off the shaft if the wheels are too wide from each other and trim off the handle if it touches the ground while driving.

Warning

Don't hold the handle straight to your body, you will get injured if you bumped in to someone/something. Hold the handle away from your body as in the images
