Paper Lamp Shade
This is a fun project that is very cost effective and easy to make.
What You Need
The following is everything we used:
- An old book
- Pritt (or any other glue)
- Art knife
- Glue gun
- An old lamp shade frame
Rolling the Paper
Use the art knife to cut out pages (you can tear it out, but cutting prevents the pages from tearing too badly) and apply glue to one end.
Start rolling the paper towards the side with the glue (with the glue facing up).
When you reach the end, firmly press on the edge of the paper to ensure proper contact of the glue, but do not flatten the roll.
Repeat this step until you have enough rolls (we made about 250 of them... only 24 remained unused)
Gluing the Rolls to the Frame
Use the glue gun to apply small drops of glue to the frame and place a roll on these drops (work quickly, the glue dries extremely fast).
Place the rolls with gaps between them as seen in the pictures. When gluing the second round, place the rolls in these gaps.
Keep Gluing
Continue the process previously explained until the whole frame is covered. As the gaps between the rolls get smaller, cut small pieces from the rolls to prevent them from overlapping.
To ease the process, think of ways to elevate the frame like we did in the picture.
Enjoy It
Keep your eyes open for humorous pieces on the rolls such as the gem in the picture.
Ps. Yes, yes it is made of paper.
