Paper Origami Crane Card

With family birthdays always coming up, I need to find and create more ideas to make a birthday card! So, I have decided to make a birthday card that incorporates my love of origami into this birthday card.

It came down to:

  • Easy to make (for you folks)
  • Very beautiful to present
  • Has a very nice origami feel

Now I have a few ideas brainstormed, I can start to create a paper origami crane card.

Let's go make an absolutely amazing birthday card!

Materials and Tools

Materials :

  • Japanese Fancy Paper, Paper Size of 15cm X 15cm (or you can just use any other types of origami paper)
  • A4 Paper
  • Double Sided Tape

Tools:

  • Scissors
  • Pen ( to write your message )

Step 1 Making the Crane Step 1 to 5

Step 1. Start with the colour side of the paper up. Fold the paper on the diagonals on both sides. Unfold. Turnover

Step 2. Book fold on both sides. Unfold

Step 3. Bring the Left, Top and Right corners to meet in the bottom corner. Start with the Left and Right corners together, then the Top corner.

Step 4. You have completed the preliminary base of the crane.

Step 5. Fold the left and right top layer to the centre

Step 2. Making the Crane Step 6 to 14

Step 6. Fold and unfold the top triangle town. Then unfold the flaps

Step 7. Lift the top layer upwards. Turn over

Step 8. Repeat steps 5-8

Step 9. Narrow the bottom points of the top layer only. Turn over and repeat on the other side

Step 10. Reverse fold the bottom point upwards. Repeat on the other side

Step 11. You have completed the body of the crane

Step 12. Reverse fold the point to create the head.

Step 13. Fold both wings down.

Step 14. Pull the wings out gently to form and shape the body.

Step 4. Making 4 Mini Cranes

Basically redoing instructable steps 2 to 3. But Ii have re-typed the it for you

Step 6. Creating the Card

Step1. Fold the A4 paper in half then into another half.

Step2. Place some double sided tape onto the larger crane and stick it to the paper but so that the cranes' feet/base touches the crease of the paper.

Step3. Repeat spet 2 to the other cranes you've created, spread them out so that the card will get the origami feel.

Step4. Now, write your, message inside the card and now give it to your relatives birthday or only other occasion.
