VENDETTA Mask - Make It Your Own.

As you know, this mask has become the symbol of rebellion against globalization, banks and governments . It represents  the stylised person of Guy Fawkes, a member of the  Gunpowder Plot , who attempted  to blow up the English Palace of Westminster  in London in 1605.    
I reproduced a solid version using a paper model.

I'm not the author of the paper model. Credit to the author (I dunno who is he/she).

Once you have printed, and glued it, this becomes the base for your final mask.

What you need :

-  Clear tape
-  White glue (PVA)
-  Kitchen or toilet paper
-  White flour (optional ) mixed with salt (you can find on the net different recipes for the mixture).

  -  Acrylic colors

This is the first and the most important step in the sequence. You have to water proof the paper model. I used strips of clear tape. Once you finished , the mask should look like this.

Before proceeding, put some crumpled paper underside the mask to give it some support, and fix it on a flat surface.

Now, mix the white glue with water to thin it. I found 50/50 is a good proportion.
Thorn the kitchen or toilet paper in short strips.
Wet the mask surface with the diluted glue and lay the paper on it and brush it. Cover all the surface, and repeat this step at least 3 or 4 times.
Let  each of the layer dry well.

Let the paper mache layer dry well.
Remove the paper mold.
Punch the holes for the eyes at this stage before proceeding further.
I used a small metal aluminum tube I teethed at the tip. You'll  have two clear cut holes without messing around.

Now you have to find a good recipes for the final covering.
I used raw white flour (1 cup) mixed with the previous 50/50 PVA glue (1 cup). It's important to add some kitchen salt as a fungicide to prevent mould developement.

Brush it over the mask 2-3 times.
Let it dry well , and you have done it.

Time to finish with some coloring. Use what you want and what you have.
I painted it black and white, with water based acrylic color.

Add some elastic bands.



Now,  dress your mask and ..............
