Paracord Adjustable Sunglasses Strap (Super-Simple)

In this Instructable, you will learn how to make an extra-easy, super-simple paracord sunglasses strap/lanyard. The lanyard uses a simple cord lock to make it adjustable, and an extra-tight noose on each end to attach to the glasses.

Here's what you need:

- Sunglasses or Eyeglasses (Obviously...)
- Paracord (around 3-4 feet)
- Cord lock (one- or two-holed is fine)
- Pocket knife or scissors
- Lighter
- Ruler
- Hemostats (Optional... they make things easier, though!)

If this was made into a kit, it would include 4 feet of paracord, a cord lock, one of those cheapo lighters, a cheap plastic ruler, mini-scissors, and cheap hemostats (I got mine for about $3).

Note: Be sure to melt the ends of your cord so it doesn't fray!

First, you are gonna make a noose on each end of the cord. To do this, make an "S" shape at the end of your cord. Take the bottom of the "S" and loop it around the rest of the "S" two or three times. Now take the working end and put it through the existing loop. Now pull each side of the cord to tighten.

Repeat this on the other end.

If tied correctly, you should be able to adjust the noose from super small to extra large.

Adjust the nooses(?) so they are about the same size then fold the cord in half. Put your hemostats through the hole in the cord lock and open them just wide enough so that paracord will fit into them. Now put the paracord in the hemostats and pull it through the hole in the cord lock. You should now have a loop on one side of the cord lock and two nooses(?) on the other side.

Now we need to tie a stopper knot to make sure the cord lock doesn't come off. To do this, first you need to cut the loop in half at the very top so you have two equal pieces of cord and then melt them so they don't fray. Fold the pieces down so they are facing away from each other. Take the right piece and make a loop with it. Bring the other piece under the first one and through the loop. Now take the first piece you used and bring it through the loop you made with the second piece. Tighten this slightly. Now take the left piece and put it through the right loop and bring the right piece and put it through the left loop. You should now be able to slide the cord lock to the end without it falling off.

Attaching to the glasses is very simple. All you do is slide the noose around the end of the glassed and tighten it up extra-tight. Repeat for the other end of the glasses.

Now you have a super-cool adjustable sunglasses lanyard!
(To adjust it, all you do is move the cord lock up or down.)
