Purchase Supplies
Purchase all of the supplies Listed Above at your local hardware store. We prefer the quality of lumber at Lowes.
Have Wood Cut
Have Home Depot or Lowes cut the wood for you. Cut the 2x6 into 24 Inch Pieces and the 1x3 into 8 Inch Pieces. We prefer to use our own circular saw and cut the wood ourselves. If you are comfortable using a circular saw safely we recommend going that route to save time and money in the future. Many stores don't actually charge for the cuts but it can be tough to find someone in store who is available and we like to keep things efficient.
Sand the Wood
Sand the edges of each piece of lumber after it has been cut to ensure smooth corners. Also sand the top, bottom, and sides for better coverage with the spray paint.
Spray Paint
Next, Add three coats of Brilliant Blue, or until the wood is fully covered, to the top and sides of the 2x6 piece and one coat to the bottom. Wait 15 minutes in between coats or until it is dry. (Time May vary depending on the environment). Add 2 Coats of Gloss Black to the top and sides of the 1x3 Pieces and one coat on the bottom. After all coats have dried, apply your sticker if wanted, and then apply at least 3 coats of Gloss Clear coat to protect the paint and sticker.
Attach Legs to Base
Next, use your 1-3/4 Inch Wood Screws to Attach (3) 1'x3'x8" to the the base of the precision trainer. Put one leg on each side perpendicular and one directly in the middle to distribute the weight of the kids. Drill From the bottom to avoid Screw Holes. Make sure the heads of each screw is flush with the wood. Use 2-3 Screws for each piece.
Cut and Measure the Tape
If you are using Zebra or Puzzle mats you will want to add this Grip tape to the bottom of the legs and support piece. Measure and cut enough tape to fully cover the legs without overlapping. Attach Via the adhesive side and make sure it is properly aligned.
Staple Grip Tape
Next, use the staple gun to evenly distribute a layer of staples along the edges and in the center of each leg and support to ensure that the grip tape stays on and doesn't peel up. Lastly, Hammer each of the staples flush into the wood to make sure that they do not scratch any surface they are placed on.
