Part 1:A Mini Quadcopter Review of the Fayee FY801 From Gearbest.com

Hey Guys, today I will be doing the first part of a review of the Fayee FY801 quadcopter that I got from Gearbest.com. This is a unique quadcopter, and it is a lot of fun to play with. What makes this quadcopter so unique from the other common micro indoor quadcopter of our day is its amazing capability to fly inverted, or upside-down. with a push of a button, the quadcopter will flip itself over and fly inverted. In this mode, all controls are reversed, so this takes some time to get good at. Since the controls are not the same as they are when flying normally, this rather distinctive feature gives the quad a whole new level of learning and fun, and will be sure to turn the heads of anyone who witnesses this seemingly impossible feat. Now you may be wondering how the quadcopter does this, as I did. The quad inverts itself by reversing the motors, and spinning them backwards. Now if the quad were not inverted, that would drive it straight into the ground - however, since it is now upside down, the quad goes up.

The Quadcopter itself Is made of a very tough plastic composite, and looks like it will stand up to many crashes - I'll keep testing this out (; . The manufacturer has gone for a very futuristic and alien design for the shape of the body, as well as the paint scheme and I find it suits the quad very well. As you can see, the quad comes with protective outer ribs mounted to the shell itself to protect the propellers. This is a very good idea, since many of us will fly this quad in small areas, and protecting the propellers is very important, even thought they are super tough. The quad also includes lights in the front and the back. These lights are key for orientation and visibility in the air, but they also allow you to fly the quad in lower light conditions. This adds another whole dimension to the flying of the quad, and allows for a more diverse flying environment. The propellers are specially designed for this quad, and you will unfortunately not be able to fly with other props than these. The reason for this is that they are multidirectional. They can therefore create the same amount of lift when they spin both ways, which is why the quad can fly upside down. You can, however, rest assured that the package comes with a set of extra propellers, so you won't get stuck with a broken prop and subsequently no quad to fly when you crash.

The radio included in this package is vaguely familiar in shape, as it is the same general shape as the radio for the Traxxas Alias. It does, however, have a lot of features. In the second photo, we see that the radio has many different buttons and switches. First, we have the two main control sticks, with the usual 4 channel quadcopter controls. We also see trims for all 4 channels, a powers switch for the radio and a indicator light. On top, we see a button to toggle between dual rates for the quad. With this you can switch how responsive and quick the quad is with the push of a button. This may go without saying, but the slower the quad, the easier it is to fly. Finally, we see the toggle switch to flip the quad inverted. Lastly, we will look at the extra parts that come with the quad. The quad comes with 4 extra props (important) and a screwdriver to take the quad apart. It also comes with a charger for the included 300mAh 1 cell Lipo battery. This battery is of great size for this kind of quad, and will give this quad flight times of 5-8 minutes. Finally, included is a detailed instruction manual for the quad, explaining all of its features and giving a comprehensive guide to the quad. All parts are also available for replacement, so if you break too many props you can always order more.

All in all, this is a very capable and fun quadcopter to fly in the house, and even outside in a very light breeze (make sure to follow your local guidelines on drone usage).
