Hello everyone,

Chatting with your friend using a laptop's Toasty Palm rest During the Scorching Summers of India Is not the way to spend a nice weekend, is it?

My beast had not One, but two Of 7200 RPM HDDs in RAID 0.

Blazing fast and just as hot. Its common to reach temps of 45~46 on Idle.

Time to save my fabulous palms from being cooked into cookies.

So here's my shot at passive cooling!

P.S- Keep an eye out for my Passive Project part 1 Where i'd Cool the GPU and CPU too!

Copper Ahoy!

Copper ( /kRpYr/ KOP-Yr) is a chemical element with the symbol Cu (Latin: cuprum) and atomic number 29. It is a ductile metal with very high thermal and electrical conductivity.

With Excellent Thermal conductivity (300 K) 401 W·m−1·K−1, one of the best beauties to cool this beast down.

I brought a 1.5mm Copper sheet that costed me 600 Rupees.

Slother on Some Sunscreen... Eh! Thermal Paste.

Cutting Copper was a unique experience. Against to cutting steel and aluminium, Copper gives out zero smoke,Sparks, or Smell.... very neat!

I took the measurement of my HDD bay and made a precise rectangle to go over it.

Then I evenly spread some High tech Butter onto the heat spreaders of Seagate momentus 7200.

Fix the Plate

Fix the plate. Simple.

Rather than gluing it out I used SuperTape. Which is strong but still allows freedom In case i'd want to upgrade.

The Rubber Feet.

Simply cut an pencil eraser in half, for they make excellent feet.
The feet serve dual purpose, they will make laptop more sturdy to work on, Plus the feet will keep Copper plate firmly pushed up against the lappy.

Time to Rejoice.

Give yourself a pat on the back.

Enjoy cooler temperatures on a blazing fast RAID lappy.
