Passive Inline Rgb Led Warp Effect.
A quick and simple instructablep for making a patch pal for linking in to your guitar, synth etc.
Kits a weird little item that oscillates and makes some general audio oddness depending on what you feed into it.

Supplies
2x mono 3.5mm vertical Jack's
1x RGB led 3v
1x 10uf electrolytic capacitor
1x 1k resistor
Fast set Epoxy glue
A glue gun
And some side cutters.

Step 1 - Remove the 3.5mm Jack Switch Terminal
Real easy start, get your side cutters and snip off the last of the 3 terminals on each jack.
(By last, I mean, the terminal FURTHEST away from the jack socket)
The jack terminal are as follows
1 - GND >> The actual jack socket
2 - signal /tip >> the terminal that deals with the actual audio signal.
3 - switch >> this is the one we're cutting off as it's not needed.

Step 2 - Setup the Jacks
Grab a piece of sandpaper or what have you, and lightly key the flat ends of the Jack's so the glue has something 'grab'
Mix up a small pea sized puddle of epoxy.
Apply epoxy to one of the Jack's.
Place your rgb led on the jack so the led sits flush with the jack and the leds ANODE and CATHODE terminals stick out by the Jack's terminals..
Apply some epoxy to the other jack and sandwich it together
Maybe put an elastic band around it to hold it while the glue sets...
Usually like 5 mins or so.

Step 3 - Attach the GNDs
Now you're going to get a couple of small scraps of wire and join each GND of the Jack's to the CATHODE (short leg of the rgb led)
Make sure your GND wires and the CATHODE do not touch the other terminals on the Jacks

Step 4 - Add a 1K Resistor
Now it's time to solder the 1k resistor to the signal terminal of one of the jacks and the ANODE (long leg of rgb led)
Make sure it isn't touching the GNDs or anything else it can short out on.

Step 5 - Attach the 10uf Capacitor
Get your capacitor and bend the legs like in the pic.
The capacitor ANODE (long leg/the side without the stripe on the barrel) gets soldered to the anode of the led (the one attached to the 1k resistor) and the capacitor CATHODE is attached to the signal wire on the other jack..

And once again make sure they wires aren't touching other parts of the circuit.

Step 6 - Hot Glue
The jack that has the 1k resistor attached the the signal terminal is the input side of this circuit.
The capacitor is fitted to the output signal of the other jack..
So make a mark with a sharpie on the input jack so you know which end is which once its covered with hot glue.
Ok, so grab your glue gun or sugru or whatever and cover this lil sucker with enough glue to keep it all together, and protected..
Done.

Step 7 - Get Yourself an Audio Source.
Get yourself an audio source...
Radio, guitar, synth, noisemaker, etc and plug it into the input end, attached the other jack to your amp, speaker, mixer etc...
And put some audio through this lil weirdo circuit.

Finishing
Ok, so now you have a workable warp oscillator, and you want to tweak it further..
So instead of sticking the resistor and cap to the Jack's, you could do the following..
If you get 2x rotary switches, maybe like 7 pole switches, you can rig up 7 different resistor possibilities to 1 switch and 7 different capacitor possibilities to the other switch..
Giving you a plethora of extra noise potential.
A simple twiddling of the rotary switches will give you a LOT of possible variation.
So instead of sticking the resistor and cap to the Jack's, you could do the following..
If you get 2x rotary switches, maybe like 7 pole switches, you can rig up 7 different resistor possibilities to 1 switch and 7 different capacitor possibilities to the other switch..
Giving you a plethora of extra noise potential.
A simple twiddling of the rotary switches will give you a LOT of possible variation.
