Pastelitos De Guayaba (Guava Pastries)
Very easy, simple, and quick recipe, which I used to enjoy with the Cuban/ Spanish half of my family during holidays! The only ingredient you might not be familiar with is guava paste, but it is easier to find than you think-- it was right in the Hispanic section of my local grocery store.

Ingredients

1 200 gram package cream cheese
1 tbs milk
1/4 teaspoon lemon juice
1/8 cup sugar
1 egg
1 tbs water
1/4 tin goya guava paste
1.5 packages puff pastry dough

Instructions
Directions:
Preheat your oven to 350°F
In a bowl, mash together the cream cheese, milk, lemon juice, and of sugar. Mix well and set aside.
In a separate bowl whisk together the egg and 1 tablespoon of water.
Slice the guava into thin strips
Remix the cream cheese mixture. The sugar will have started to dissolve and needs to be reincorporated into the cream cheese
Keep the puff pastry cool and only unroll a sheet as you need it. Cut each sheet into 2 smaller pieces.
In the center of each piece place 1 strip of guava paste and about 2 tablespoons of cream cheese sauce.
Fold the other half of puff pastry over the filling and press closed. Cut 2-3 slits through the top of each pastry.
Place on lined baking sheet, brush with egg wash, and bake in oven for about 30-40 minutes, until golden brown.
Let cool completely before eating
