Phone Shower Case
Have you ever wanted to play music in the shower but were afraid of your phone getting wet? Dont worry any longer! With this DIY and following the simple steps provided, you can use everyday household items to create yourself a case for any type of phone and have your phone protected from getting wet while in the shower.
Materials
To build this project you will need:
- Piece of Cardboard
- Plastic Bag
- Tape
- Phone Screen Protector
- Xacto Knife (scissors will work as well)
Outline Your Phone
After you have gathered all your material, then it is time for you start. You first want to start with cutting an outline of your phone size and shape. Make sure you DONT CUT THE CARDBOARD ALL THE WAY THROUGH!
You want to cut only about half way through because you will later be folding at those point and if you cut through the cardboard you wont have all the pieces attached together and will have to start over.
Outline the Side of Your Phone
After the outline of the base of your phone, you then you have to trace the sides of your phone because you are going to making somewhat of a box so you will to cover the sides and you will as well need to trace a little piece that will fold on the top of the phone.(I know it may be hard to tell from the picture)
Again, you dont want to through the cardboard at this moment, right now you just want the slight trace of all the spots you cut at
Cut Out Outline
Next step is to FINALLY cut out the outer outline of the trace. Remember, its like a box so to have it fold correctly, if you just cut it in a square, you have to cut out the corners and only leave a flap on each side.
Folding
Now, at the spots on the base and the flap, you need to fold them outwards and make sure they are cut far enough but not too far and should end up looking like a box.
As well, on the third flap that covers the top of the phone, you want to peel off some of the cardboard and leave only a slim piece of the cardboard because the slimmer it is the easier it will be to do the future steps.
Cut a Plastic Bag
Next, you want to take your plastic bag and cut a small square off, or as close to a square as you can the shape doesnt really matter. You dont want too much because you only need a small amount to cover the cardboard so that the cardboard wont get wet.
Wrap the Cardboard
You then want to take your piece of plastic bag and cover all the cardboard with it doesnt have to be perfect but just make sure to cover all the spots of cardboard and try to make it as smooth as you can and not have so much air inside.
If there is still big patches of plastic, dont be afraid to cut some of those pieces off, the thinner it is, the better it will be.
Tape Up
YOU'RE ALMOST DONE! The next step is to tape on the screen protector. This is when the thin cardboard pieces come into play. The thinner the piece, the closer it puts the screen protector to the phone screen and will be easier to use.
Then you tape all the sides together. You must tape together all the corners except the bottom two because you need that flap open to slide in your phone. If you have any spots of cardboard that are not covered in plastic, you can just put tape over those spots and should protect just as well.
TEST IT OUT
Now its time to just put in your phone and test it for yourself!
