Pixlr Halloween Photo Editing Contest

Pixlr is an amazing photo editing program. There are three different versions that you can use. I chose to use Open Pixlr editor (Advanced) to make a black cat and a picture of Jack O'Lanterns into a spooky halloween collage with red highlights.

Before you start editing your photos you need to simply add a new layer. Click on the layer tab at the top of the menu. In the layer tab click on "Open image as layer". Once you have done this import your picture of a cat. Finally zoom in on the cat's eyes.

After zooming in on the cat's eyes click on the paint brush tool. Choose a brush with a 50 diameter and a hardness of 50. Next in the lower left hand corner choose the color red for your paint brush. Carefully color in each eye with the paint brush. 

After both eyes are colored red change the layer mode to darken. The eyes will appear more realistic and the pupils will be visible.

Use the lasso tool to outline the cat. Afterwards in the menu select the edit tab, once the in the edit tab select "Invert selection". Then simply press delete. The background will disappear and it will become a cat on a white background. 

Import another image as a new layer. I imported a display of Jack O'Lanterns. Make sure your new photo is placed behind all the other layers, it is the new background. 

To add a red tint click on the shape tool and choose a square. Your square should be red. When making a square expand it over the whole canvas. Make sure the square is behind all of the layers except the background (Jack O'Lanterns display). The last step is to change the layer mode to darken. 

You finally have a spooky halloween collage with red highlights.
