Pizza on Your BBQ
This Instructable is for making a grilled pizza on your BBQ. This is a photo of the completed pizza.
Supplies
Pizza dough, pizza toppings, pans, olive oil, BBQ
I made my own dough, and you can do the same, but I have used pizza dough bought from my local supermarket, and it works just as well. I rolled the dough out to a size that would fit the BBQ grill, and put it on a flat pan with enough flour under it so it won't stick.
The pizza toppings include pizza sauce, herbs, spicy oil, mozzarella, fior di latte, pepperoni and vidalia onions.
Preheat the BBQ to 350 degrees. Brush the entire top surface of the dough in the pan with olive oil. Turn the BBQ down to low. Carefully flip the pan upside down over the grill, so that the oiled side of the pizza dough is facing down. Brush the exposed side of the dough with olive oil. This side will become the bottom of your pizza when you flip the pizza over to dress it.
Check the underside of your pizza. When it is nicely grilled and looks like the photo, flip it over again to expose the grilled surface. Once flipped over, the pizza is ready for toppings.
Dress your pizza. With the BBQ on low, close the lid and wait for the toppings to cook and the cheese to melt. Make sure to check it periodically so it doesn't get burned. When it is nicely browned and the cheese is melted and the toppings are hot, remove the pizza from the grill.
Enjoy the delicious flavour of your grilled pizza!
