Planter Box

A planter box for the garden made out of scrap timber from fence rails and offcuts of polycarbonate roofing.

I needed a garden bed to plant my asparagus crowns in as they can live for 30 years and I thought it would be good to be able to take them with me if I move house.

I had these materials laying around the yard left over from other projects so I decided to create the solution.

Ingredients:

-Galvanised nails 3-4 gun racks

-10 short lengths of treated pine (higher hazard class is better)

-2 short (2400 approx.) lengths of polycarbonate, can use tin

-assorted screws and other fixings that may be required

How To:

1/ Start with making a few U shaped chairs for the roofing to sit in with the treated pine. The size of these is up to you depending on how large you want to make your garden. The whole lot can be butt jointed together as it is just a garden bed, no one cares what it looks like only that you will be able to harvest some awesome home grown veggies from it later!

2/ Nail some timbers between all the chairs and then get the polycarbonate in place. You can tack it in place with some screws, don't be too concerned though, the weight of the soil will hold it soon.

3/ Get your soil and plants in there and water them in.
