I'll be making a simple Pom Pom toy today.

It is out of my comfort zone because I don't normally work with string, which I find more challenging then other craft.

Materials

You will need:

A piece of cardboard

String

Scissors

Compass

Cutting It Out

First, use your compass to draw a circle on your cardboard, remember that if the circle is bigger, making the pom pom will take longer, but the pom pom will be bigger (and better) too. After you have drawn the circle, draw another smaller circle in the circle you just drew, make sure that at least 2 fingers can fit into the hole in the middle of the circle. Make another circle like the one you just made (of the same size) and cut along the lines.

Then, cut a piece of string of about arms length, thread it through the circle in the middle and tie a double knot as shown above. Start winding the thread in and out of the circle until you run out of the string you cut. (Make sure that each layer covers the whole circle). Keep on repeating this procedure, when you have done around three layers, stop.

If you do this part incorrectly, the whole pom pom will fall apart. Cut the string in between the 2 cardboard circles and immediatelycut another piece of string and double knot it in between the cardboard discs. Get rid of the cardboard.

You can choose not to do this part, tie the rest of the string from the step before onto a stick for it to be more fun for the cat/dog. Good luck making the pom pom!
