Porridge Measurer

Porridge makes for a quick, healthy and inexpensive breakfast which has a low GI (keeps you going longer).
This porridge measurer makes it easy to measure portions out.

Supplies

Beer or soda can
Scissors
Craft knife

Cut Can in Half

Cut an empty beer can or soda can in half.

Trim to Size

Using a pair of scissors, trim the can down to the measuring size you require.
You can always trim a little more off if at first the size is too large. The measurer I use for porridge is 4 cms in height. If there is a design which can be removed, do so if desired

Measure the Oats

  • Pour quick oats into the measurer.
  • Tip into a bowl.
  • Add another measure and a half of water.
  • Stir
  • Microwave for 1 minute.
  • Stir.
  • Microwave for another 30 seconds.

If you want to eat less, just trim a little more off the top. The two measurers above, may look to be the same size but one is actually smaller. This is one way to reduce your portion size and eat less.

Breakfast Is Served

When cooked, remove the bowl from the microwave and add some fruit and milk.
Enjoy your healthy bowl of porridge.
