Premium Birdseed Recipe - No Fillers

Overview:

Commercial "premium" seed mixes can be expensive and are surprisingly full of cheap fillers like corn.

Not only that, the ratio of expensive to inexpensive seed doesn't seem to match the price.

Here I will show you how to mix your own premium birdseed without any of those nasty fillers with 4 basic ingredients.

• Sunflower Hearts & Chips
  
• Shelled Peanuts
  
• Safflower
  
• Nyjer

• 2 Gallon Bucket (Food Safe)

2 Gallon Bucket X4 (Optional for bulk seed storage)

Here is where you can get creative. The mix doesn't really matter, but here's one that doesn't get too expensive.

1/4 Safflower

1/4 Sunflower Hearts & Chips

1/4 Peanut

1/8 Nyjer

... You're missing an 1/8th!

This is intentional, so it will mix easier when we shake the bucket.

Go ahead and shake your bucket for about 1 minutes.

If this is too hard for you can mix it with your hand!

Take off the lid, pretend you are a bird, how does it look?

If it needs a little more of something, add it!

That's why we left a little head room.

The mix doesn't really matter. Some seeds will attract more of one kind of bird but any mix you make will be a sure hit.
