Procreate Neon Lettering Effect
We are going to make a Neon Lettering Effect
Supplies
For this tutorial you will need an iPad, an Apple Pen, and the Procreate app.
Your Canvas
I kept it simple and made my canvas the screen size however you could adjust according to your needs
Background Layer
Create a new layer and fill it with a dark grey color, this will be your background
Create a Inner Glow
Open up a new layer, fill it with black color (by dragging the black onto the screen).
Select the eraser tool, pick the soft brush (under airbrushes) and gently start deleting the black color in circular motions. You should be having an image like the ones above.
Lettering
Most neon signs have a similar thickness all around so find the monoline brush (in calligraphy) and write out your words.
Multiply Your Layers
Next duplicate your lettering 3 times to have a total of 4 layers with your phrase.
Alpha Lock
So with your 3 middle layers alpha lock them as shown above and fill them with black, your primary neon color and your highlight neon color. You wont see a immediate difference.
Make It Glow!
Now with the second lettering layer you are going to and select the gaussian blur in the adjustment panel. Make it 10-15%. Then select the third layer and choose Gaussian blur again. This time slide it a bit less to about 7-8% or overall make it less than the first. Merge these two layers and duplicate to make the glow really pop
Final Touches
Select the white lettering layer and under blend choose to add. This makes the white more prominent.
Next make a new layer and with your soft brush you used before gently go over the lettering and lighten the opacity to create a soft glow over the surface area.
