Some quick tips on early simple sketching.

start just throwing shapes and what now or whatever you want in your image, just blobs of shapes and such, doesn't need to look pretty, just to get the point across.
tip: good thing to have is a key bind for mirroring an image, - could help spot some flaws early on.

can use that to fix anything you don't feel like redrawing, at this stage, you should be comfortable with just redrawing something again (for the sake of practice or whatever, but hey, do whatever u want) maybs you accidentally drew something so cool and you think "aah, no way I'm drawing this again this good"

Anyway, you can use the marquee tool drag thins, clear, resize, isolate, copy, etc.

pretty useful for micromanaging early colors, making a palette, etc.
***Keep in mind though - this option only really works on flat colors, if you have some shading with different colors or values in the same layer, it will turn everything into one color, with one select value. Meaning any shading you have done with a different color or value will be GONE.
