Propeller Hat

One morning, I saw one of those cheap party propeller hats on a shelf. Naturally, I decided to make one that had a propeller that spun on its own. This instructable will show you how to do that.

Gathering Materials

To make your propeller hat, you'll need a couple things.
- A hat(obviously)
- A propeller(again, pretty obviously)
- a small DC motor
- Wire
- A double A battery
- (optional) A double A battery pack
-Blue Tack/Sugru
- A paper clip
- A pair of pliers
- A sponge
- Tape

The Motor

This step is very simple if you got a double A battery pack, but is doable if you don't.
1-(with battery pack) Attach the battery pack to the DC motor, Black wires to black wires, red to red.
Done!

1-(without the battery pack) attach the black wire from the motor to one side of the flat side of the battery with blue tack or Sugru.
2- attach a small red wire to the other side of the battery with blue tack or Sugru.
3- to turn the motor on, connect the two red wires, and twist them together with the pliers.

Now that you have your motor, you need to attach the propeller to the motor. I did this by putting the paper clip through the middle of the propeller and bending the top down, to hold it in place. Then I folded the paper clip around the spinning part of the motor, and used an excessive amount of blue tack to attach it.

To finish the whole thing, I put the sponge in the hat, cut a hole for the motor, and put the motor and battery pack in/on the hat. You need to leave the switch or two red wires exposed in the back of the hat to turn it on.

Now wear this around town and get strange looks from everyone.
