Supplies
Ingredients
The Bread
- 1/2 cup (188 g) warm water
- 1 teaspoon active dry yeast
- 1 tablespoon (12 g) white sugar
- 1 tablespoon (14 g) unsalted butter (room temperature)
- 1/2 cup (118 g) milk
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 3 cups (298 g) bread flour
Topping
- 4 tablespoons (57 g) unsalted butter, melted
- 1 pinch salt
- 1 tablespoon (2.5 g) freshly chopped parsley leaves
- 2 cloves garlic, finely minced
Grease Loaf Pan and Activate Yeast
Grease a 8x4 in loaf pan and set it aside. Add warm water to the bowl of a stand mixer (or a measuring cup) fitted with dough hook. Add in the yeast and sugar and stir gently to combine with the water. Allow to rest for 10 minutes until foamy.
Add Butter Milk and Salt
To the standing mixture add in butter, milk, salt and turn mixture on slow to combine.
Add Flour
Slowly add in the flour and then knead for 7-10 minutes. Dough should not be sticking to the bowl.
You can use all-purpose flour. If you are using bread flour, you might need to add a few extra tablespoons of water
Make Topping
In a small bowl, combine the butter, salt, parsley leaves, and garlic.
Cut Dough
Take dough out of standing mixer bowl and form into a ball, the dough should be stiff and not sticky. Cut dough into small round pieces.
Dip Into Butter
Roll dough into small balls and dip dough into the butter mixture.
Arrange and Rest Dough
Arrange the dough balls in the prepared loaf pan. Cover loaf pan and allow dough to rest and rise until doubled, about 1 hour. Meanwhile preheat oven to 350 degrees F, 15 minutes prior to the full rise.
Bake
Bake at 350-degree F (177 C) for 30 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from oven.
Baste
Baste the loaf with the leftover butter mixture, I warmed mine up and then baste the top of the bread.
Enjoy!
