Pumpkin Crayon With 3d Mold
For this project we made a crayon pumpkin out of old crayons. We recycled crayons to make a decorative piece that can double as an usable crayon. As long as you have a 3d printer the possibilities to what you can create are endless.
Supplies
- Crayons
- Hot plate
- Metal bowl
- TinkerCad
- 3d Printer
- Filament
- syringe
The first step completed was drawing a mold on tinkercad and printing it out.
Next the crayon wrappers were removed and sliced up into smaller pieces. Then the crayons were placed in a bowl and put on the hot plate to melt down.
Last the mold was filled with the melted crayon using a syringe and let to harden over night. When the mold was opened we were left with a half pumpkin. (test one) I realized there was not enough crayon to fill the mold. Test two I used 8 crayons to fill the mold to the top.
