RC Sonar Rubber Duck
Hi, today I want to show you my process of building a rc rubber duck for depth measuring on lakes.
I didn't intended to write an instructable, so the pictures of the building process will be bad, or missing.
I have to apologize for that.
For this project I used a duck decoy, cut a hole in it and put a 3d printed boat hull under it.
Price for decoy, motors and brushed esc around 40 Eur.
Got attacked 3 times by goose. First time my rubber duck nearly sunk.
Supplies
- 3d printer
- duck decoy
- battery
- receiver
- 2x brushed esc
- 2x brushed motor
- sealing glue (sikaflex)
- Deeper fish finder sonar (optional)
Little Peek Inside
Using the Sonar
driving with the duck around and doing some depth measuring.
Brown is the bottom, green are some plants.
Design
First a big thanks to Alfa Ageng Santoso
I used the front of his hull and adapted it to my duck shape.
Putting Everything Together
you need to print the hull (1x) and the motor adapter (2x).
Everything else is optional.
Afterwards hold the hull against the bottom part of the duck and mark the lines.
After cutting and connecting hull and duck fill the gaps with glue like sikaflex.
put some glue on the motor holder and screw it down to the hull.
Connect the motors in a differential steering array.
Avoid the goose!!!
