You don't have to follow my instructions be creative.
Supplies
- 2,5mmx1mm Blue leather strips/Suede imitation strips (2cm for 1 turn I used around 2m)
- 4mm Brown or black leather bands
- 1mm Black leather band
- Strong thin tine like fishing line
- Needle
- Scissors
- Some tape (I'm using 10mm Kapton tape)
- Measuring device (I recommend at least 30cm)
- Pliers with a cutting edge or similar
You can try to by this stuff locally or use the lazy way like I did and order them from Amazon or eBay.
Main Lines
Start by cutting 3 pieces from your 4mm band.
This is the main part. You have to measure your wrist and add about 2cm to it.
My target length is around 17.5cm so I'm using strips of 20cm.
Next we have to connect them on one end I'm using Kapton tape but you can use any tape you like.
Winding
Let's start winding.
Take two bands and just start winding you blue strips around them.
I used a glue free knotting method to start but you could also use some strong glue.
Take a look at the pictures. This is how I started. You can start winding 2-3 turn and pull on the end and make it tide.
I made 7 Section each is 10 turns wide. Rachels bracelet has 4 sections.
After you have completed one section you can jump onto the next one. You have multiple options to jump across.
I've includes 2 option in the picture section.
The end
doing the end part is a but tricky. As with the start you can use some glue or use the glue free option like I did.
Push a needle through the end of your blue strip.
Thread a piece of fishing line (total length around 20cm) through the hole. Thread both end through the needle hole. It helps if you try cutting the line in an angle.
Stick the needle below the blue strip and between the two main bands
Pul the needle through it helps if you use pliers and start pulling the blue end bellow the strip.
If your end is to long (it is the case on the pictures) you can always cut them. If you can't pull them completely through don't worry you can unthread the fishing line and pull on one of it's ends.
Ends
Easy
Rachels bracelet has pretty easy ends. just take all main strings, bind them together and you are done.
Hard
I think this is the better method. I results in a much thiner end.
You need around 30cm of the 1mm black bands the tie one end together. this will result in a 8isch cm long binding end.
For this step I can't give you any special instructions just look at the pictures and try to understand them. I used some pens a a thicker band to give you a quick view over the knotting. I tried putting all main bands side by side and this is how I did it. But you can be creative and use another method.
Now you just can add a knot on the end of your line, cut all ends and you are done.
