Looking through discarded jewelry; I found a wooden ring and thought to myself, " what could I create with this?"And so another project begins...

Supplies

• wooden ring - 5mm thick ring, 16mm diameter opening.
• rhinestones that fit the wood ring, salvaged from broken jewelry ( any color and shape that you have or want to use).
• mini aurora borealis rhinestones 1.2mm size
• hoop screw - 3mm hole
• 1 jewelry link
• 2 jewelry pliers ( to open and close the jewelry link with)
• necklace chord or chain
• 1 tack or push pin ( to start the hole in the wooden ring for the hoop screw).
• 2 part epoxy resin ( enough to fill the opening of the ring)
• 1 toothpick ( to mix the epoxy and application)
• a cap or small throw away container to mix the epoxy.
• plastic lid ( I used a yogurt lid, for placing the ring on for epoxy application)
• petroleum jelly ( to place on the lid where the ring will be set for when applying epoxy).

With a tack, take the wooden ring and make a start hole for the hoop screw. Twist the pin gently while gently pushing the pin in to the wood, but not all the way through, to make a start hole.
And then twist or screw the hoop screw into the start hole on the wooden ring. Screwing the hoop screw all the way in ( my wooden ring cracked a little at this point, but the epoxy resin helped hold it together in the end).

With your finger, smear a small dime size amount of petroleum jelly on the surface of the plastic yogurt lid just where the ring is going to sit for applying expoy ( thin layer of petroleum jelly where the opening of the ring will be on the plasticlid surface). Place the wooden ring on the area of petroleum jelly on the lid.

Place each rhinestone one at a time face down, into the wooden ring however you want. I placed mine in a circle along the inside of the opening.

Mix the epoxy in a cap with the toothpick and then pour the epoxy over the back of the rhinestones. If you have room, at this point you can sprinkle the mini aurora borealis rhinestones over the epoxy area. Use a toothpick to move them around alittle if you want and then pour a little more epoxy on top of those rhinestones. Wait at least 15 minutes before continuing to the next step.

Now you can pick up the pendant and wipe off the petroleum jelly (with any type of cloth you choose).
Mine leaked very tiny bit of epoxy...with your fingers gently break off any little bit of epoxy that may have leaked out; by moving the leaked epoxy bits back and forth until they break off.

Then open the jewelry link with the jewelry pliers. Hold the link steady with one of the pliers while you move your other hand and pliers from you to open the link at the separation point. Before closing the link add the pendant and close the link with the jewelry pliers.
Then hold the link steady with one of the pliers while you move your other hand and pliers towards you to close the link at the separation point.

Now you can add to a necklace chord or chain.
