Raisin Monkey Bread
This is easy
Gather Up Your Ingredients and Tools
For the dough - your favorite white bread recipe will work. I use a bread machine, but it can be mixed in a mixer, or by hand. You could also by a piece of frozen dough from the grocery store.
Water = 1 cup
Flour = 3 cups bread flour
Egg = 1
Margarine = 3 tbs
Sugar = 2 tbs
salt = 1 tsp
yeast = 2 packs regular yeast or equivalent in dry or fresh yeast
Raisins= 1 cup
Later to add to the dough
1.5 cups brown sugar
1tsp brown sugar
3/4 cup of oil
Mix the Dough
Mix the dough and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour. Mine was in the bread machine.
Prepare the Bread
You will need to flatten the dough piece like a pizza. Add 1.5 cups of brown sugar, 1 tsp of cinnamon, and 3/4 cup of vegetable oil. Roll it up like a cinnamon roll and flatten it out good with your hands. You could just bake it like this, but then it would not be monkey bread.
Chop Chop
Chop it up and mix it at the same time. You can use a scraper or a knife. Be careful. We do not want any body parts in the bread.
Prepare the Pan
The pan needs to be greased very well so the bread does not stick. The pan you use is not that important, as long as it is about twice as big as your piece of dough. A foil pan from the dollar store would work, or divide it into 2 cake pans.
Let It Rise
Let it rise for about 1 hour. It should look like the picture.
Baking
Bake at 375 till it looks nice and brown on top. This needs to be turned almost immediately after removing from the oven or it will stick in the pan. Melted sugar is very hot and will burn you very bad if you are not careful. Long sleeves. pants, and socks would be good to have on in case any thing drips. Take it out of the oven and cover with a plate. Grab it with both hand and flip it over. Count to 8 and remove the pan carefully.
