Recycled Ladybug Jar

Ladybugs are one of my favorite springtime critters to craft about. They are so cute and so easy, even the little ones can get involved. This little ladybug jar speaks to a variety of age groups, from little ones all the way through the teen years. Recycled materials are used, so cost is low too! 

The supplies you will need for this project are:

plastic or glass jar with lid (I used an instant coffee jar)
red, black and white acrylic craft paint
paintbrush
bug foam stamp
red polka dot fabric
scissors
sealer spray

Wash and dry a recycled plastic jar. I chose plastic for this project because it's specifically for kids, and glass can break when it falls. And if it's in a child's room, chances are it will fall at least once. 

I used a foam stamp, you can find these at any craft store for about a dollar. 

Paint the foam stamp with black acrylic craft paint. press that onto the jar. Then use white paint to add the spots and eyes. A toothpick works great for the eyes!

Put lid on jar. If the lid is not red, paint it red. I added a thin coat of red to mine because it was a little cloudy looking.  Paint a black semicircle at one end of the lid. Use the handle end of the paintbrush dipped in black paint to add different sized spots. Let dry.

Wrap a piece of red polka dot fabric around the jar and tie in a bow, trim the ends. Give everything a quick burst spray of sealer.
