Reduce, Reuse, Recycle Bird Feeder
This bird feeder is a fun way to relax on a chill day. It is also a great way to reduce your waste and promote biodiversity in your backyard.
Supplies
- Two Plastic Water Bottles
- A long string (no specified length)
- Sugar
- Hot Glue Gun
- Backyard Filter Findings (rocks, leaves, etc.)
- Popsicle Stick
Assemble the Filter
Take one water bottle and cut off only the top. Keep the lid tightly on and throw the rest away. Take the second bottle and cut it in half, taking the lid off and inverting the top half to fit inside the rest of the bottle. This second bottle will be the filter.
Fill the Filter
Fill your filter's top with many different layers.
Popsicle Stick
Cut a hole in the very bottom of the filter. Break the popsicle stick in half. Take one half and hot glue one side to the inside of the first bottle's top and the other side to the outisde of the filter's bottom. Repeat on the opposite side with the other stick half. The first bottle's top is the bird feeder part.
Hot Glue
Put a ring of hot glue around the two parts of the filter so that it stays put.
Finishing Steps
Cut a little flap in the bird feeder part to make it more accessible and put a pinch of sugar in its cap. Get ready to filter!
