Remastering a Old Tinkercad Design

Tinkercad is a great tool for starters, as it was for me almost 3 years ago in middle school when I made this small ship. After importing to Fusion 360 we can improve it to more modern standards.

First we find our very old project made from tinkercad and use the send to tool to bring it to F360

Right now it is very plain due to the limited geometry of tinkercad, we can add to it by adding details and texture to the side to make it much more like the angular spaceship we are trying to make. Here I start with the sketches for the top angles and using the rectangular pattern tool to accurately space copies of the sketch for the length of the ship. These can be extruded based on the given proportions, outer areas are brought in by .5mm and inner areas are done by 1mm. The toy gun emplacements are rounded off and reduced.

We do the same on the bottom and add details orignally impossible in tinkercad on the sides. The general complex look of a design makes or breaks it. Outer areas are down by .5mm and inner are down by 1mm again. Designs on this side are far more "open" and are not as demanding on premade measurements

Mirror Geometry

Mirror to the opposite side, if this doesnt work you can always cut the object in half and try mirroring again if there is comflicting geometry. Afterwards the design should be easily mirrored to the opposite side using a midplane.

Finish up the design process by creating a drawing and recording dimensions used in the design.
