Repetitive Abstract Pattern

This is my Repetitive Abstract Pattern that I created. This pattern is vibrant and colourful, and is perfect for anyone looking for an abstract and fun pattern. The pattern is printable can be used for almost anything - from notebook covers and wallpapers to aprons and cushion covers, giving everything a fun and creative look! I decided to combine different colours and shapes, and the outcome was super crafty and amazing! It can be used zoomed in for bigger shapes, or zoomed out for smaller and more repetitions.

All you need is a laptop or an iPad, making this a very simple pattern to create. I used the design software Canva - an app used to create designs - however any software that allows you to create patterns and duplicate them works.

Printing the pattern is also possible.

To open a new blank file:

1. Click ‘Create New’ on the top left hand corner of the homepage
2. I made a custom sized blank canvas, of 3000x3000 pixels

You can choose what type of shapes or graphics to include in your pattern.

1. Tap on the ‘Elements’ tab
2. Search your wanted shape
3. Browse from many different options, and click the preferred one
4. Repeat steps 1-3for as many shapes as you want

To organise the shapes, you can drag the shapes anywhere, and also duplicate them. It is important to be careful around the edges as they need to be able to line up when you duplicate your pattern and place lots next to each other, above and below. This is a bit confusing at the start, but just try to think what needs to connect from all around the pattern!

You can do this by measuring the size and distance of each of the shapes, or simply by trial and error!

Once you have all of the shapes in place, you can group each element to make the overall pattern as one. This makes it easier to duplicate everything. Once this is done, you are ready to duplicate it, creating a repetitive motif! Make sure to align the elements properly so each block flows into the next, making the pattern seem endless.

The pattern is finished and ready to print. You are also able to make many different patterns, from elegant and modern to more abstract, like mine! Thanks for reading :)
