Repowering a Old Radio Circuit (Powered by Batteries)

Ever have an old radio that powers only in AC and doesn't have a battery inside?

Today, I will show you how to power your old radio with a battery

and useful if there's a Power outage, and your radio's power depended on the battery without connecting the AC to your radio.

You can pick any type of batteries like 9V or putting batteries in series like 2x Li-ion battery in series to make 8.4V and 6x of 1.5V of Alkaline battery.

All you need is

- Circuitry of the radio (it can be AM, FM, or both)

- Case (You can reuse the case of the radio if still strong enough)

- Alligator clip Wires (for testing)

- Extra Speakers (if your radio's speaker broken)

- Battery (Any types)

-Buck-Converter (optional, if you don't have any batteries other than Lead Acid Battery, to step down voltages)

Be sure that the radio still works.

check it by the following below

- Circuitry and connections

- Transformer and the rectifier.

- What voltage that powering the radio, it can be 6V, 9V, or 12V, (be sure to check it before powering it by looking at the label on the board)

- Speakers

Once you check your radio's condition and found the power connections, you can go to step 3.

Connect the Alligator clip wires from the power source of the battery to the radio's power connections.

Be sure to connect the battery's polarity Positive to Positive and Negative to Negative of the radio

You're Finished modifying your radio into a battery operated.
