Restoring a Garden Bench

I was given a bench that already had the wood cut, ready for remodeling. so I made a video as I went and decided to share with you. This is my first instructive. https://youtu.be/okEUltrQ2GQ

If your bench has rotted old wood, remove it. you may need
to use some penetrating oil to get the bolts loose.

inspect for rust. if your cast iron has any rust, sand it off and paint it with a good quality oil base exterior paint. Rustolium is good.

cut the boards the width of the back of the bench plus the width of the side upright boards. The upright board width is not critical and will establish how wide everything else is.

trace the curve of the top of the bench to the 1x8 and cut it.

Sand all the boards

I used minwax honey oak and polyurethane to finish it. but put on at least 3 coats of polyurethane for the weather.

use a drill to put in the screws and drill holes for bolts.
